Teeth Whitening

Before beginning any of the whitening treatments it is very important that we examine your teeth, and make sure that your teeth and gums are healthy. Tooth whitening can be a simple treatment on its own or, can be part of a more complex cosmetic restoration plan.

In Surgery Bleaching

We use  ZOOM 2!   and   ZOOM A.P (advanced power)
You will need to book an appointment for 1hr 45 minutes. A whitening product is placed on your teeth, and activated by a light for 3 or 4 fifteen minute sessions. We can achieve results of up to 8 shades lighter, but generally 4 –6 shades are targeted with ZOOM 2!ZOOM A.P has a slightly stronger whitening agent and 5-7 shades whiter are fairly consistently achieved. A take home top up kit will help to maintain the shade we achieve and may help to achieve further whiteness.

There can be a degree of sensitivity during and after treatment, that may require pain relief for 24 – 48 hrs, If you have particularly sensitive teeth we recommend ZOOM2! The sensitivity is temporary only and teeth are not damaged in any way by this procedure. On average the effects last for 1-2 years, but this depends on patient maintenance and habits.

Before booking you in for this procedure we will usually need to do a Zoom consultation to ensure you are a suitable candidate for this. We would be checking for any restorations on teeth as they do not bleach, and also any small cracks or gum recession on the teeth that may cause sensitivity.

As part of your in surgery bleach we strongly recommend you purchase the ZOOM take home kit (touchup). Only to be used with in conjunction with surgery treatment.

ZOOM take home kit (touchup)
(Upper and lower bleach trays and 1 syringe of gel)

To help maintain whiteness, touch ups will be necessary. We recommend a take home custom tray system that you use for 2 nights. It contains a whitening gel syringe with 7.5% hydrogen peroxide and bleaching trays/mouth guards which are specially designed for your mouth. Once you have the trays, extra syringes of bleach can be purchased. This means you can continue to touch up your whiteness at your leisure in future.

Why choose daywhite or nitewhite over other tray whitening systems?

Only tooth whiteners that contain amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) provide a more comfortable whitening treatment and help improve surface enamel smoothness. And only Discus Dentals formulas contain ACP.

Day White and Nite White ACP
(Upper and lower bleach trays and 6 gel syringes)

This is a take home whitening system, in which custom made whitening trays are used for 30 minutes morning and night for 2-3 weeks. These trays are loaded by the patient with 9.5% hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. It whitens up to 6 shades over 2-3 weeks of treatment. This product contains ACP, which reduces sensitivity and re-mineralises enamel.

The nitewhite option can be worn while sleeping. Thi slow- release gel is 10% hydrogen peroxide and contains ACP.

If you decide on bleaching trays we would book you an appointment to have impressions of your teeth taken. Over the next few days we would produce the whitening trays using the moulds of your teeth. When the process is complete, you will need another short appointment to fit the trays, and give you instructions on how to get the most out of your new bleach trays!
